All of our teams at under 7’s now start their journeys into grassroots football by coming through our Tigers Cubs Devevelopment Centre where we take them on from Reception school age and work with them for 2 years to eventually join up to teams when they reach school year 2.

The boys section play their games at either Bretons Outdoor Centre or Harrow Lodge Park every Sunday and have training sessions on saturdays and varied week nights depending on which team.

TigersFUTSAL

FUTSAL (closed at the current time)

Tigers JFC introduced their Wednesday night Futsal sessions for their Cubs and Girls Development players to give them a more in depth training session based on skill and small sided games.

We had 24 applicants wishing to take up this opportunity and from when we started in May we have gone from strength to strength and our current year 2’s and girls that attend are showing the skills they have learnt out on the pitch in their league fixtures.

All the coaches are unpaid volunteers that want to give a little of their experience and time in giving these very young players some of their knowledge, We are hoping to spread our Futsal venture to the older age groups but firstly we want to make sure that what we are offering is a valued asset to the players and to offer them a different experience.

The Futsal sessions are all set out based on skill, passing and attacking all using the official waited Futsal bail approved by FIFA.

our sessions are £2.50 per hour paid on a 4 week rota with all funds raised going towards Hall Hire and equipment.

If any coaches want to get involved with helping out at our Wednesday sessions then please email tigersjfc@googlemail.com for more information.

TigersFUTURES

The London Sport Award 2021 ENHANCING THE WORKFORCE WINNERS Tigers JFC FUTURES

Tigers Junior Football Club decided to launch their Futures project 7 years ago to give something back to the players that had played for us and wanted them to experience the chance to become a coach or a referee. The sessions we hold are based on helping out at our Cubs and Wildcats sessions every Saturday alongside qualified coaches where they gain basic training ideas and gain experience dealing as a coach instead of playing. This year we have seen 5 of our u14’s Girls join the Futures project along with boys from the U15’s & U16's who have only just started but settled in very well.

The aim is to teach them our very own Tigers DNA and to be able to pass on the clubs ethos and proposals to the young players who are just starting on their journey with Tigers JFC.

We have invested in this project so we can have a healthy amount of coaches and referees within the club and to one day be able to have an official qualified referee on every game. We would also like to be able to host midweek soccer centres for all abilities not just for the elite players and also our very own half term football schools. If we are successful in our goal and the Havering Council Bretons Project eventually does go ahead we will be able to say we have achieved this by investing in our youth for the future of Tigers JFC.

Our partner in this venture is Sovereign Windows. Please come and visit us at www.sovereignhome.co.uk

School year age groups are based on children starting school in September 2023 so reception will be Under 5’s and Year 1 will be Under 6’s

Children attend this session from all over Havering and anyone is welcome to come along and watch a session before committing to pay for your child just in case they don’t like it.

Please feel free to come along and see if your child would like to be involved in football at a club that puts development first.

TigersDNA

DNA

Tigers JFC following The England DNA The Under 5-8 Foundation Phase Experience The England DNA wants to inspire coaches to become excellent teachers of the game through a deeper understanding and knowledge of the young children they coach. We also want coaches to engage children in a way that makes them feel good about themselves, their capabilities and their worth. This can start with the experience we give them during our training sessions and matches.

1. Allow Enjoyment

Children of this young age come to football for a whole variety of reasons that will include a love of,or fascination with, football. It is very important that this first experience of football, physical activity and “coaching” is an enjoyable one, as it could lead to a lifelong love of being healthy and active. The England DNA acknowledges the importance of how young children feel and how this can affect their attitude towards sport and physical activity. A coach who is skilled at engaging the children in an enjoyable and age-appropriate way is likely to create an environment that children will enjoy and develop within.

2. Be Positive

When working with the children, try to notice when they do things well, when they quickly do whatyou ask, listen well, help each other and get better at things. You might say that this has nothing todo with being a football coach – you couldn’t be more wrong. It has everything to do with workingeffectively with young children, and shaping their behaviour and attitude for the future. The England DNA asks parents and coaches to be positive where possible. This comes fromfocusing on what children CAN do instead of reminding them of what they CAN’T do... YET!

3. Smile a Lot

Children are likely to form a stronger bond and relationship with people who smile (and make them smile). Their development leading up to 5 years of age has been driven mainly by their sensory motor system. How they “feel” is significant at this stage of their development and, if we want the children to develop a lifelong love of sport and physical activity, then this first introduction should be memorable, exciting and enjoyable. The England DNA asks coaches to connect with each individual child so that they feel valued, safe and ready to learn. This all sounds very basic, but the approach of the coach must be enthusiastic, supportive, positive, caring and kind. The England DNA encourages coaches to provide exciting, challenging and enjoyable activities for the children they coach. We must try to make their Foundation Phase experience a memorable one.

This is how we begin to prepare our youngest players to play, enjoy and develop through football.
